Essential Skills Supplementary Curriculum and Facilitator Guide for Language Instruction For Newcomers To Canada (LINC) Program
Client: A LINC Classes Provider.
Problem Context: To continue funding the program, a new contract requirement included focusing more on the Government of Canada's Essential Skills Framework in LINC Classes.
Solutions: Develop a curriculum as an add-on to already-existing classes and class structure, to fulfill the new contract requirement while working in synergy with existing instruction.
Results: When elements of the curriculum were piloted in one class of 18 learners, all learners indicated they benefitted from it. 40% of instructors found the add-on curriculum valuable, and indicated that they will start implementing the curriculum the following semester. The remaining instructors indicated they will use at least a few of the elements indicated in the curriculum.
